Costa Rica: Sportfishing

The Best Fishing in Costa Rica

Located on Costa Rica’s South Pacific Coast (The Osa Peninsula), which has been referred to by National Geographic Magazine as “The Most Ecologically Intense Place on Earth”, this is where the edge of Costa Rica’s largest coastal rainforest meets the Pacific.  The Osa Peninsula is home to Corcovado National Park, as well as over 400 bird species, 250 species of mammals and of course, some of the very best fishing in all of Costa Rica.

Species

Offshore species include:  Pacific sailfish, Blue marlin, Black marlin, Striped marlin, dorado, tuna and wahoo.  Inshore you will find roosterfish, Jack crevalle, Cubera snapper, snook, Pacific mackerel and bonito.  The offshore grounds feature the legendary “Hannibal Bank”, as well as multiple sea mounts, ledges and other fish holding formations.  The inshore fishery includes miles of pristine beaches, numerous rocky outcroppings, one of the largest bays on the entire Pacific coast and several rivers.  Anglers will delight in the diversity of offshore big game fishing and marvel at the selection of inshore species to target.

Sportfishing Boats

A well-maintained fleet of specialized sportfishing boats and high quality tackle will impress even the most experienced of fishermen.  In addition to the fantastic fishing, the resort also offers more than 25 exotic adventure tours, as well as a full-service spa facility right on the premises.  Some of the more popular eco tours include:  zip-lining through the rainforest canopy, surfing, horseback riding, mountain biking, rainforest & monkey tours, bird watching, ocean kayaking, waterfall climbing & rappelling, snorkeling, jungle hikes and gold panning.

Accommodations

The 5,000 square foot spa is luxury class and offers a full range of massages and healthful treatments.  The modern lodge features upscale accommodations, all-inclusive packages, a great pool & hot tub, along with beautifully landscaped grounds.  Due to its unique location, wide variety of activities and all the amenities of a first class resort, this destination is a favorite with anglers and family groups seeking a well-rounded vacation, as well as smaller corporate groups.
