Overview
British Columbia's Vancouver Island is well known for its coastal black bears and our outfitter here holds the exclusive rights to a guide concession of over 4,000 square miles of prime bear habitat. Giant jet-black bears roam the island and are hunted with fair chase, spot-and-stalk hunting tactics. Home to the densest black bear population on the planet! Spring hunts take place on coastal beaches and estuaries, and as the season progresses hunting moves to river valleys and mountain clear-cuts. Hunts are conducted using 4x4 trucks, ATVs, boats and hiking.
Fall black bear hunts focus on the coastal rivers and streams that are loaded with spawning salmon. Fall hunts can also be combined with Roosevelt elk and Blacktail deer, and are a great time to observe the interaction of spawning salmon, bald eagles and bears. Hunts are suitable for all age groups and physical capabilities, and are based out of a deluxe lodge that provides comfortable accommodations and excellent food service. This hunt has long been a favorite for our clients who are looking for a high quality, spot-and-stalk black bear hunting experience.
Lodging
With such a large guide area, our experienced guides are able to spread the hunt out over the entire guiding concession. Accommodations vary from our base camp at a comfortable, private luxury lodge in Port Alberni to temporary stays in cabins and resorts stretched across the territory. We endeavour to provide top quality rooms and meals for our hunters, and this level of comfort and positive experience is part of what sets us apart from our competition
